Two of the world's most successful Indigenous dance companies come together to create a work that explores catalysts for migration, memory, tribal bonds, the cycle of life, and journeys that cross boundaries. Developed by Canada's Red Sky and New Zealand's Black Grace, Migration brings together dancers from opposite sides of the globe in a unique mix of tradition-inspired contemporary dance.
Migration is performed by dancers from Red Sky and Black Grace, and features explosive live music. Dancers come from the far reaches of multiple countries including Canada, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and Mexico.
Migration was developed through the Performing Arts Commissioning Program at The Banff Centre and was premiered as part of the 2011 Banff Summer Arts Festival.
