Investing in a new generation of Indigenous Artists
“My people will sleep for one hundred years, but when they awake,
it will be the artists who give them their spirit back.”
Louis Riel, Metis leader
Our 2018-19 season is shaping up to be our most exciting year to date.
I know you care about building up the next generation of Indigenous artists and leaders. With your help, Red Sky Performance has helped Indigenous artists to push their boundaries, realize their creative potential, inspire audiences, and incite changes in society.
In 2019, Red Sky Performance will continue to shape tomorrow’s Indigenous arts leaders through an enriched Associate Artists program – and we need your help!
This professional development program, specifically geared towards Indigenous artists, will provide them with unique opportunities for artistic leadership, cultural advocacy, and through boundary-defying collaborations with the world’s foremost dance, music, and theatre artists.
With our Associate Artists program, Red Sky aspires to provide Indigenous artists with professional development opportunities of a lifetime, such as this year’s intensive 2-week residency with the New York City Ballet’s former principal dancer, Jock Soto (Navajo). Connecting Indigenous artists to culture is an equally important goal of our Associate Artists program, and in the past year, our artists have had the privilege of learning directly from Wisdom and Culture Keepers such as Cree astronomer Wilfred Buck, and Anishinaabe language and culture teacher, Alex McKay.
With your help, we will build on these successes! We know that experiencing the arts can move and transform people. We know that artists can offer insight and change, and help audiences to feel inspired, to experience hope, and to touch the best parts of their own humanity. Join us and become a driving force behind our Associate Artists program and make a difference to contemporary Indigenous arts in this country.
With your gift today, you can make a difference to tomorrow.
We would be happy to accept your gift of $50, $120, $200, $350 or more, and will provide you with a charitable tax receipt.
