Raven: Greetings from B.C.

 |

We have just finished our first week of the 6-month tour of Canada and the U.S. Our tour started in Burnaby, B.C at the Michael J. Fox Theatre where we performed 14 shows for over 7000 local children. The Children’s Concert Series presented us as part of their yearlong programming geared to elementary schools. One of our audiences included students from a local school for the deaf. They had translators onstage interpreting the show and I got a chance to speak to a couple of students after the show about what they thought. They liked that the story was humorous in the way that it was acted out. Overall, audiences were thrilled with the show.

Our hotel was next to the second largest mall in Canada, named “Metropolis,” it definitely was a place to get lost and spend lots of money finding your way back!

The cast took in a few shows while in Vancouver. The highlight was definitely “The Edward Curtis Project,” a new work created by Marie Clements and premiered at the PuSh International Festival. It seemed to be the place to be as we all managed to reconnect with some old buddies.

Nicole and I went to check out the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Wow! What a place! The bridge spans 450 feet across and is 230 feet above the Capilano River. We were also went on a treetop walk using bridges connecting tree to tree. It was incredible!

Now, off to Merritt, B.C! They won’t know what hit em!
