Red Sky News: Tono Wins Dora Mavor Moore Award
The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced that Tono received a Dora Mavor Moore Award which honours excellence in the performing arts.

Tono is a visually brilliant dance and live music creation that connects the world Indigenous cultures of Canada, Mongolia and China. Heavily grounded in the theme of horse culture, Tono spans the plains traditions in both Asia and North America, and celebrates the creature universally regarded as the epitome of strength, grace and beauty.
Tono's production history vaunts a world stage line-up of engagements:
- World Expo 2010 Shanghai in China from May 5-9, 2010. Red Sky opened the Canadian Pavilion at World Expo on May 8, 2010 plus four additional performances.
- Tono was also a recent highlight at the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, and was also featured as part of the Closing Ceremonies of the cultural programming of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2008 Meet in Beijing Festival, the International Arts and Culture Festival in Inner Mongolia, the 2008 Summer Arts Festival at The Banff Centre, 2009 Luminato Festival in Toronto, Calgary's High Performance Rodeo and the Arden Theatre near Edmonton, Alberta.
Red Sky will continue a high profile tour of Tono throughout Canada, the United States and overseas in our 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
This past season in 2009-10, Red Sky ran two concurrent tours of Tono and Raven Stole the Sun which has reached 50,918 audience members with a total of 195 performances in 75 communities in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Shanghai, China and Illinois, USA.

Tono is a stampede of the senses; a portal into the Indigenous world of music. This CD is a portal into this rich, textured music of Mongolia and Canada using traditional and contemporary musical practices, ancient instruments and cutting edge technology.
