MIIGIS (2026 TOUR)

Red Sky Performance tours its acclaimed dance production Miigis from October 23 to November 27, 2026, with performances across British Columbia and Ontario.

Tour stops include Revelstoke, Cranbrook, Nelson, Trail, Vernon, Oliver, Oakville, Kingston, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, and Owen Sound.

Miigis is a powerful contemporary Indigenous dance work inspired by the epic Anishinaabe journey along ancient water routes from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes. This 50-minute performance brings to life themes of origin, memory, spirit beings, and the Seven Fire Prophecies—carried forward through striking movement, music, and visual design.

THE MAKING OF SHE HOLDS UP THE STARS with Sandra Laronde

Tue, Sep 22, 6:00–8:00pm

Toronto Public Library, North York Central Branch

— 5120 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON

Join award-winning artist Sandra Laronde for an evening exploring the creative journey behind She Holds Up the Stars — her acclaimed novel, now reimagined as a large-scale theatrical production.

Laronde will share insights into the making of this multidisciplinary production, presented by Red Sky Performance. In 2026, she made her playwriting debut with the show's world premiere at Toronto's Roy Thomson Hall, receiving two Dora Mavor Moore Awards for Outstanding New Play and Outstanding Direction. The production received eight Dora nominations in total — the most of any Toronto production this season.

At its heart is a young Indigenous girl searching for the truth about her mother's disappearance. Her journey brings her into an unexpected bond with a spirited horse — and into a world shaped by beauty and cruelty, courage and resilience, and the deep pull of land and family.

Hosted by CBC's Aparita Bhandari, the conversation offers a rare look inside Laronde's creative process and artistic vision, enhanced by imagery and puppets from the production.

Free registration is required via Eventbrite. Doors open at 6:00pm. Tickets guaranteed until 6:50pm, or until capacity is reached, after which rush line admission begins. Seating is first-come, first-serve.

This program is produced by Ontario Culture Days in collaboration with Red Sky Performance and Toronto Public Library
